When a jeweler speaks about "carat weight", they are referring to the diamond's overall size and weight. The term "carat" refers to the weight and size of a diamond. The value of a diamond rises exponentially with its size. Most diamonds fall in between 0.01 carat and 1.00 in size. In other words, that range is between a hundredth of a carat and a full carat in weight.

Carat weight is one of the "4 C's", and is not as important as Clarity or Cut when it comes to making a decision about buying a diamond. To learn more about the "4 C's" of diamonds Click Here.
